The cheapest way from Manila to Boracay is the promo flight of course, but if you have time and like to explore one more island, this way from Manila to Boracay would be another good option as well, and cost you less money than a regular price flight.
Here’s the brief information of transportation. (my experience in March 2015, schedual and price may change by time)
Manila(MRT kamuning station)-Batangas pier,05:00-07:00, Jam transit bus,p175.
Batangas pier-Peurto Galera port(Mindoro Island),07:30-09:00,JSL ferry,p250(+ terminal fee p30,enviroment fee p50).
puerto galera port-Peurto Galera van terminal,15 mins by walk.
PG van terminal-Calapan,09:15-10:20,van,p100.
Calapan-Roxas port(Bayan ng Roxas),10:30-13:00,van,p200.
Roxas port-Caticlan port(Panay Island),14:00-18:30,Montenegro ro-ro ferry,p408(+terminal fee p15)
Caticlan port-Boracay,19:00-19:15,boat,p30(terminal fee p100,enviroment fee p75)。
Totally cost 1228 pesos until Caticlan port, doesn’t matter if you go by flight or ferry, you all need to take the last boat from Caticlan to Boracay.
First we took Jam transit bus to Batangas, the time schedual in their website claimed the buses only run afternoon, but we arrived early morning and they still had bus to Batangas! So it’s better just walk in and ask, don’t trust internet and they can’t have reservation on-line anyway.
The first ferry to Puerto Galera is 7:30am and every hour thereafter, usually until 16:30.
The van terminal is near the hospital in Puerto Galera, you can either walk or hire a trike to there.
There are some vans and jeepneys waiting, jeepney goes to Calapan as well, cost 80 pesos.
Just 20 pesos different, we chose van with air-con and faster.
I arrived termial around 9am and asked the driver when is next departure, he said 9:40, but actually we just waited 15 mins to fill up people in van and leave. So forget about schedual, just walk in and wait ;)
After arrived Calapan, once we got off there were many people asked if we go to Roxas. Then we were sent to another van just nearby.
Of course, no “schedual” as well, we waited around 10mins for putting in more people then left.
They sent us directly to Roxas port.
This ferry to go to Caticlan was the only thing that we have schedual, and they have time table on their Montenegro website.(woohoo!!)
Last ferry is at 4pm, if you miss it, I saw a backpacker just near port.
They sell some food on board with normal prices.
After 4 hours pleasure sailing, you’ll finally see Boracay island in front of you.
But you still need the final boat to reach the paradise.
Tips: follow the crowd, it’s easy!
